Connor McGregor, Canada, and Courage

To whomever this may concern,
As I booked my flights to Canada and signed the lease for my apartment, a quote from Conor McGregor came to mind:
If you can see it and you have the courage to speak it, it will happen.
For the first time, I truly understood what he meant. I had an idea that excited me. I shared it with people who could help. I took action. And now - it’s happening.
Why does this matter?
Because I know I’m gone. Not just physically leaving, but leaving behind the version of myself that saw the UK as a failed chapter. That kind of failure no longer has a say.
For better or worse, I’m driven by a cathartic motivation. If I want to live a life of agency, I can’t let past traumas define my future.
If you fail to fail, then you’ve failed.
A strange maxim, but one I keep returning to.
Naval Ravikant once said, “Desire is a contract you make with yourself to be unhappy until you get what you want.” I see that contract now. I want the experience of living abroad, and the discomfort I feel now is the price of admission. It’s the unhappiness I’ve agreed to endure. But I know there are moments of happiness on the other side.
Kind Regards,
